Anybody else tow their pickup behind their pump?

The electronic shift on my transfer case has a nuetral position....HANDY!!

If you can't fix it with a hammer....you've got an electrical problem.

Ed and I made up a hitch when down south last yr. but I haven't used it yet. As picky as the D.O.T. is around here I was afraid to use it because of no brakes on the pickup. But now I got the blessing from the State Patrol so I am good to go. Do you leave the engine running to assist the power steering on pu? I assume when going thru a corner the tow vehicle wheels just follow? If you have to back do the pu front tire turn hard sideways kinda like backing up a truck with steerable tags?

General Motors made the electronic push-button shift on these transfer cases with a neutral position. (Key on, put transmission in neutral, press and hold both the 2H and 4H buttons for 10 seconds, and indicator light will come on showing the T-case is now in neutral. You can then put the transmission shifter into park. You can remove the key even as the steering will remain unlocked!!

I don't leave the engine running.

When backing, the front tires on the pickup go all to hell, so it's best to plan things through. You can back up straight about 6 or 7 feet before they get too badly crossed up, it seems.

If you can't fix it with a hammer....you've got an electrical problem.

Neat trick with the key in the lock and still able to steer. That's what I thought would happen with backing back. Terry

Speedy, we can't tow a rig behind a pump in Washington state if the pump tandems are over 34,000 lbs. In 1984, I did that, but the rules weren't enforced very well back then.
